Steve Chalson
Having spent a career designing for many of the largest brands and companies in the world, Steve is now retired from that life and making pieces he truly loves. Steve imagines, designs, and creates artwork that is both 2D and 3D, literal & abstract, and even functional & funky… depending on the piece, the day and materials on hand.
All of Steve’s art strictly adheres to Zero-Waste sustainability principles, using only hardwood off-cuts, discarded skateboards, broken tree/slab parts, and other items that typically would be headed for a landfill. He never purchases new hardwoods for his art.
Steve sees the art he creates as a personal expression of both aesthetics and design, with a dash of left-brained engineering; all incorporating the medium he truly loves – wood. His work reflects a lifelong admiration of the bold simplicity of Pop Art, and ingenuity of Mid-Century Modern style – art, color, design, and architecture.
